Our California native plant sale will be held April 22, 2017 on Earth Day. We have added to our plants available list from last year! Order forms are available online and can be sent in by mail through April 17, 2017.
Though we had a good water season this year, we haven’t yet recovered from the serious drought that has plagued California for the last three years. Homeowners should still try to conserve water use and an important addition to that effort is to introduce native, drought resistant plants to home landscapes (though even native plants will need extra water the first year to establish). These drought tolerant plants will add beauty and viability to your property.
New this year is Brittlebush, a high desert shrub with large daisy-like flowers, and Deer Grass, a large bunchgrass with delicate feathery plumes. Flowering plants such as Golden Currant, Holly-leaf Cherry, and three fragrant Sages will be offered again this year. Plant photos and plant descriptions, including soil, water requirements and freeze tolerances will be available on our website.

Plants will be available for pickup on Saturday, April 22, between 10:30am and 3:30 pm at the TRCD Office, 321 West “C” Street, corner of Mill and “C”, Tehachapi. Otherwise, you must call to arrange pickup at (661) 825-5400.
New this year!
We have ordered extra plants to sell on sale day. So stop on by if you did not have time to fill out the order form. We will have staff from the Natural Resource Conservation Service to help you identify your soils type and assist in making your new plants a success. We will also have a truckload of beautiful roses, first come first serve, and the possibility of Afghan pines which make a great wind break.
We are hoping to continue our native plants sales and continue to expand our offerings to include more trees for our fire and drought impacted areas.
If you have any questions, please call us at (661) 825-5400 or email us at info@tehachapiRCD.org
